Camera preview issue or not?

Hello,
I have been noticing that when in preview, while lining up my composition, the screen is about a
full stop brighter then the captured image. Is this happening to anyone else? I makes it a bit harder
to judge exposure. I was shooting in auto mode as I don't want to fuss with manual settings on a cell phone. lol

Also is the 8 megapixel mode better than the 16 megapixel mode as I've read on some sites?
