Has anyone else noticed some camera quality issues? Most often for me it's that pictures come out too...soft. Particularly during portrait selfies (it had been a problem with the S9 too, but I figured the depth sensor would've fixed it).

Here's one example. The first pic is with the S10+, the second pic is with a OP 6T using Google's camera app. It downright looks like the lense is smudged or something compared to the 6T's.

Now, I know the common retort is that portrait mode is dumb in general, but this softness that's evident in the pic is definitely still something that shows up for me in regular photos as well.

My camera has been great, only issue I've had is when I upload pictures to my Instagram Story and they are blurry. Tried messing with some settings but no luck, it's pretty frustrating because the pictures are crisp and clear but loses it when it's uploaded.

I'm thinking it might just be an android thing I'll always deal with. Never seems to happen on my wife's iPhones.

The first picture is overexposed. The camera processor tries to “average” the lighting conditions. That's not unique to this camera, but it's likely that the algorithm was a bit too aggressive here. That happens sometimes. So you might try placing your finger on the item that you want to be the focus of the picture to “override” it. In essence, you're changing the exposure. If the picture seems underexposed (too dark), you can put your finger on a dark item, and the picture will be brighter. If it looks overexposed (washed out), put your finger on a very bright (close to white) item. You'll actually see the change before you take the picture. This should be an easy fix without dealing with the ins and outs of photography.

The beauty of the Samsung phones is that they offer many manual controls (I think they were the first to do so), but the interface is of such that you can choose how much you want to use at any given time.

Is it photos that you take within the Instragram app? Yeah, I've heard there's something about how Android software is built that in-app camera don't get to use the phone's image processor to it's best ability or something, which lowers the quality. I think I remember something about that being why Samsung let's use upload to Instagram directly from the camera app or something. I'm not sure, I wasn't paying that much attention.

Ah, that's it. The S10+ seems to overexpose more than what I remember from the S9+ (or comparable cameras).
