Hi All ~

I have an EVO and LOVE it, so i bought my girlfriend one. The camera shutter speed on hers is awful. on mine, when i push the button it takes the picture instantly. On hers after i press the button it takes about 2-3 seconds to actually snap the picture.

I have reset the phone to factory settings, same issue.

The only differences I can see in our phones are as follows:

my phone has Kernal #11 and hers has Kernal #17
my phone software is 3.29.651.5, hers is 3.29.651.3

any thoughts?

Hmm... You sure she has kernel #17? That I know of there's only been 11 kernels. You have a more recent version than she does too. Try going to system updates and check both the firmware update and HTC Software update on hers.

Well, if it has some wacky kernel, that may be my answer! I'm certain it *says* #17 but i guess i can't be certain something isn't awry.

I checked to make sure all updates were applied and i got the same response time. I did a system wipe, same issues, still shows kernel#17. I broke down and took it to Sprint, and they're going to order a new one for me. The tech seemed to think that it was simply because the device is newer than mine, and thought the difference was because i have kernel #11 and hers showed #17. If there have only been 11 kernels, he might be right.

I was having that problem too and I have one of the newer Evo 4Gs. It was driving me absolutely nuts that I couldn't take pictures of anything except scenery and annoyingly-long posed pictures.

Try going into Camera -> Settings and change white balance to not-auto. I know it sounds stupid, but it really seemed to help shave 2-3 seconds off the response time as long as I'm not using the flash even with everything else set to auto.

Changing some of those other settings to not-auto (esp turning auto-focus off) might help too...

Hope this helps!
