Camera sound

Does anyone know how to turn off the camera shutter sound when taking pics? I've messed with the volume controls without any luck.

What about plugging the speaker with a finger? Haven't tried it yet but it could work.

Also, I think the Null custom ROM deletes the camera shutter sound.

Manufacturers are required to include that sound and at one time they wanted to make it illegal to disable. I don't know if it was ever passed...
