Looks just as good as the Pixel 3 XL.. might be more nitpicking from here on but they both look great.. add in the fact GCam will likely be ported over for the V40. What do you guys think? Is this the LG camera we've been waiting for? BTW the main rear camera is said to be the same sensor as Samsung's Note 9 or S9. FYI LG has a 3 omnidirectional mic setup, one of the best microphones to be heard on a smartphone for the purpose of content creation!

*** UPDATE 10/15/2018: Confirmed the V40 will have a Sony ExmorRS IMX363 with DUAL PIXEL technology. Please see my other post for more details about the camera.

First of all I don't trust these types of videos with no real context. Just some sample photos. On paper though I think the V40 hardware wise is better than the Pixel 3 XL with less smart processing.

If the claims of the V40 having the same camera hardware as the S9, and with the GCam port of the Pixel 3 into the V40, that's one heck of a combination and will be a killer performer. Some people are complaining about the other additional cameras, hey at least you actually get those additional cameras! Other phones only have 1 camera and they are acting like they are disappointed... Be aware, some YouTube reviewers are highly biased because of the partnerships they have with other manufactures, "paying" them to "favor" their brand. I was very disappointed with Mr. Mobile and came to the conclusion he's biased.. complaining about the other cameras when in fact the other flagships don't even have those extra cameras. And then complaining about the small 3300 mAh battery but not even talk about how lightweight and thin the phone is.

I would never complain about LG's uniqueness and use of the three lenses. The two on the front are too close to make sense as far as field of view. But the hardware for the main, tele, and wide angle lens are a beautiful match. Native 4k60fps and 1080p240fps are a welcomed addition as well. The V40 will be a top contender despite LG being slightly behind in HDR processing. They made the right choices this year though.

That's the one thing I thought my V30 was lacking is a telephoto lense. For me that's a very nice upgrade. The wide angle selfie camera is meh. I'm a 43 year old construction Foreman with little desire for taking selfie pic's lol

I've had the G2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and now the V30 and I think LG is making really good choices with it's last few phones.

Yep. Interestingly enough I just got the V30 today and I love it. The wide angle is dramatic. The main camera is a joy to use and the haptic feedback in manual is perfect. Can't wait to make a lot of memories with this beauty. The V40 is nice but between the price, size and lesser battery life the V30 was the better option for me.

Lol nice. I'm a year in with my V30 and I still love it as much today. Anxious to hear what you think about the battery life too.

I think you'll enjoy the phone.

Everywhere I've seen the battery life is a beast so I'm looking forward to that. The camera is so much fun already. Google was so close to turning me into a point and shoot but manual is what I've always loved.

Yeah, front cameras only offer a ten degree FOV difference. They could have went a bit wider, I wonder if they kept it so small to keep down the size of the notch.

Anyone else excited to see how the HDR recording looks on a 4k tv!? I'm hoping pretty good.

Wow this is really a different LG this time around. Two updates before the phone is even officially available. Wow. So proud of them.

Yeah Everytime I decide I'm sticking with my V30+ they try and pull me back in.

The only way they'll get me...

I pay $40 a month for 18 months for my phone with the balance due at that point. I have the option to turn it in after 12 months for the latest and greatest. The V40 is currently $20 a month on Sprint which would be a $20 per month savings to own the newer phone. Alas I would be extending my obligation.

WTH lol

Hell, I'm just surprised that they actually had their game together for the launch this time! The day of announcement I actually knew exactly when Verizon would open pre-order and when it would ship and it was all the same month! Only bad part, is that Verizon had the Pixel plastered all over the front page and you have to actually go looking for the V40.

Yeah I figured that as far as promotion at Verizon. They're going to push the Pixel 3 hard but LG is doing some things right with this launch. A lot of things.

Sprint too. Nothing on their sight about the V40 and they're not even offering pre orders. Just that it will be available Oct 19

I was tempted to jump on the deal Sprint has on the V30+ until they announced the V40 at $20 and that the offer would be available for upgrades as well (finally!). I've had several issues with my G6 and was considering moving off LG altogether, but there's nothing out there that really compares to the value you get in LG - at least when they have a deal on them. I only wish the Moroccan Blue wasn't a Verizon exclusive.

Google has aggressive marketing power and they open up their wallets to promote it everywhere. LG doesn't have that kind of power unfortunately.

A thing important to say is the dual front camera actually helps with the depth of view for portrait shots, and they couldn't do that with a very wide view camera. Could also explain why it's centered in the middle.
