Camera Tips and Tricks?

Anyone have any tips or tricks for taking indoor pictures with this in low light? I hate when I go out with friends and can't take a picture of us sitting at a table in a bar. With flash everyone looks goth or like a ghost. Turn the flash off and you can't see anything but their outline. Outdoors is fine and it takes great pictures with plenty of light. My previous S3 took decent pictures all the time so I figure it might be something in the settings. So for those of you who are getting decent pictures, what tweaks did you use? I figure I am not the only one so maybe someone can sticky this and everyone can post some useful camera tips.

I love this phone otherwise and have had zero issues so swapping it out will not be a suggestion I would use.
