Just as the title asks, who has learned tricks to take pictures without hair looking like a Rob Ross PBS painting? How have you gotten blur out of photos? These are common issues many members on here have had troubles with. I've been shooting in Pro mode but still have had mixed results. Coming from A S7, Pixel, Pixel 2 XL and now this S9+ I'm personally experiencing more bad photos than good and it's not something I've dealt with before.

Finally more people are having the experience I have had. I'm waiting for a Pixel APK that will work properly with the SD 845 version. I have not been able to figure out a way to make better photos. Hopefully as more experience this Samsung will release an update.

You notice it's either blurry or no detail? You change settings to help alleviate one issue and then the other pops up. 😂

Yep, blurry and/or no detail unless I'm outside with good lighting. Nothing has helped besides picking up my Pixel 2 to take the picture lol 🤣 I hope they fix this soon because the S9+ kicks a@# in every other way.

The camera is a deal breaker and I don't want to hold onto the phone forever in hopes it works out it's issues. I love the phone but the camera is a huge part of my daily useage.

Well at least provide some sample of the issues.

There are many examples on several threads. This isn't what this thread is for. It's a place where successful tricks or settings can be shared so people can get better results.

Ok I'm in the wrong thread. Apologies.

Here are my top "tricks":

Minimize blur and on low-light photos:

1) Set a 2-second timer. A completely-still shooting hand makes a big difference.
2) Use "Sport" shooting mode.
3) Long-press the subject to fix autofocus before taking the picture.
4) If the results still stink, try the well-polished app OpenCamera. It has worked quite well for me, taking indoor pictures with S7-like consistency.

Minimize loss of detail:
Same as step #4 above.

Is this a "watercolor" effect you're talking about? If so, it could be automatic noise reduction being applied to jpegs. I noticed the LG V20 is very aggressive with this, causing a water colored effect. For me, the solution was to save as RAW. The RAW files are just that; the image straight from the sensor with no processing. The down side is you'll have to do some editing to it and export as a jpeg.

Yeah, it's that exact issue. Gallery doesn't seem to show me the RAW files. Curious if they will patch this or we have to keep searching for a work around.

You may have to use manual mode and then change settings to save as RAW or RAW+jpeg (whichever is the cases in your phone). If you've already verified this, try opening the photo in Snapseed to see if it gives you the RAW develop option in the tools. I've noticed Snapseed will see that the RAW and associated jpeg are the same exposure and give you RAW options when opening from the jpeg.

Tried that Open Camera app and still getting blurry unfocused images. So sad that Samsung just lets the quality of the camera go to ****. Never had a problem with the S8+ or any of my previous Samsungs in photo department. Hoping they will find a fix for this.

Is this a software issue or hardware. The fact that so many people are having the same issue... I am hoping it is just a software fix
