Camera won't work on new Thunderbolt

It was an update I ordered directly from the VWireless website. So I finally called them. I was on the phone (landline) with a very pleasant Verizon representative from Texas named Torry. She tried about 45 minutes to fix it and finally went to HTC. She came back and said we're just gonna replace the phone. Evidently, the manufacturer just ships the phones in bulk to Verizon who then distribute them. She said that they have a tracking system so hopefully they can find the bad batch this came out of and get rid of them. So, thank you for your replies/help but it looks as if I'm getting another one.

First thing I'm gonna do? Check the software version. LOL!!

On Thursday afternoon the VZW rep I spoke with told me she was going to overnight (she claimed that no stores near me had any in stock) me a new phone (after thoroughly troubleshooting the existing phone) and that I'd have it on Friday. Well Friday 7pm and no FedEx. So I called to inquire. "I'm sorry sir, you have to pay $199 for a new phone and we'll credit your account when we receive the old phone." Ugh. After a futile attempt to get them to waive the $199 (I only paid $149 for the phone with the busted camera) but it proved to be a fruitless endeavor. Well it turns out that my local VZW store had a new T-Bolt in stock so I went today and completed the exchange. Done deal.

The only thing that surprised me is that the guy seems all pissed that my wife chose the T-Bolt instead of the Razr. He started ripping the T-Bolt and it's short battery life. I explained that VZW gave us an extended battery at no charge and that my wife wasn't a heavy user. Undeterred he started to walk me over to the Razr display. I told him: "No thanks. My wife likes the T-Bolt." He then told me that I should get a Razr because I am eligible for an upgrade. "No thanks. I am waiting for the Galaxy Nexus" He responds: "Why would you want one of those over a Razr?!" I asked him how much he knew about the GN and he told me that he heard they weren't very good. When I asked him where he heard that he said that he'd forgotten. I remained pleasant and friendly during this entire exchange and was actually enjoying this as I found it amusing.

But anyways, all is settled. Wife is happy. Thanks for letting me relieve some boredom by typing out this story. :)

Yeah, I had to put $199 on my Am Ex till they got the old phone back. No big deal when Am Ex owns my soul anyway. =) But I didn't get mine overnight either. I assume Monday. At least the phone works for calls, email, messages and stuff. Fun and easy to use. I, too, got the free big battery. I just ordered it separately knowing I'd need it and was pleasantly surprised when there was no charge for it. I didn't argue with them!

Hmmm....I don' want to wait until Monday. It's hard not to make changes to your phone when you know you won't be keeping it.

Sounds like Verizon really wants their reps to push the Razr, and may even be providing financial incentives for their reps to sell the Razr. :-$

Hope the replacement TBolt works well.

Def sales perks to sell the razr. Probably an instore thing where a Rep wins something fir selling the most.

I wonder if the phone u got the first time was rooted and had that problem back then with the force close on the camera / Google talk. I wonder how many rooted phones slip through the cracks.
