Camera zoom causes small picture in picture I don't want.

When I zoom very big on the camera or video a small picture in picture appears. I understand it's purpose, but most of the time I don't want it there it's in the way. How do I turn that off?

I find it annoying myself. I would like to be able to turn it off/on too.

I don't think you can turn it off. It's there because of the inherent difficulty of looking around at that level of zoom (since small adjustments can lead to completely losing the subject in the viewfinder).
