I purchased Camera Zoom FX about 2 or 3 years ago before OEM's started to make great stock cameras. Should I continue to use Camera Zoom FX or has the G3 made strides to be better than Camera Zoom FX?

Just use both and compare results :-)

Lol, I have. But milliseconds are hard to count. I haven't printed any pictures yet, and I THINK the G3 camera is quicker to focus but I cannot discern picture quality.

Well I mainly use stock as its fast to focus and picture quality is great. If I want a bit more control over white balance, exposure etc then I opt for Camera Fv5 :-)

For day to day pics, the stock is my go to. I have a bunch of other camera apps installed (including fx), but I never use them... I should probably just uninstall.

I agree, the G3's stock app is good enough for me too.
It's surprising how many Nokia and Microsoft apps I've got on my Lumia 1020, all stock apps too. I normally use no more than a handful of them. Some are so unused I'm not sure I could say what they do. I'd count the apps now except I've put my 1020 in an unwise place and my cat is sleeping on it. If I try to slide it out from under him there'll be trouble.

In the interest of fairness, I decided to roll a bit using the other apps... Camera FX (paid)... I am going to start with that one and see how that goes. The latest version actually DOESN'T suck on the G3... I think it might be a beta or something, but it actually works on the G3... I think the app had some serioues issues with the resolution. New version is OK though.

Then I'll take a peek at the FV-5... I just checked out the lite version... some serious control there. Might pick up the full version.

I've switched to the LG camera app from XDA. Works better than the stock camera for me
