I would agree that the S3 takes vastly superior pica. Perhaps it is the quibk shutter or just my being comfortable with a larger phone, but I like it more than the 4S,

As long as you like it more that's all that really matters. Doesn't matter what anyone else thinks.

Both cameras are equally great. Try upping the exposure +1 and use photo editing apps. You can take GREAT photos with this camera.

Unfortunately then it must be the software that's crippling it.

True. The 4S still takes better pictures in certain instances...like dimly lit rooms. It's the software.

To be honest, with a Smartphone camera, I want to be able to use my device on the fly, and simply take a photo. The most I should expect to do, would be to 'focus'. And to me, this is where the iPhone beats the S III.

Most times when you're out and about, there is no time to choose a scene, adjust things, etc. it is normally point, and click...
