Can a Chromebook upload a file while in sleep mode or when logged off?

I need the Acer Chromebook to be either in sleep mode or logged off while uploading a file onto the Dropbox application. I want to be able to have to log back in using my username and password before being able to use the Chromebook again. Is this possible while uploading a file?

Welcome to Android Central! I don't think so. The machine has to be on to have a web connection and to upload.
