Can a Samsung receive OTA updates normally with a systemless root?

If a systemless root is done, will software updates still appear in settings/show up as a notification that there is a new update available?

If it does show up, can you accept/start the download and install the update directly from settings even though the phone is rooted?

Another thing I was curious about is if you root your Android via systemless root, would the phone status stay "official" or will it be "modified"/"custom"? And would a factory reset unroot a phone that has been rooted via systemless root?

From what I read, systemless roots are great because they allow you to update a rooted Android without unrooting it. Is this the case or have I misread something?

Will a factory reset unroot a systemless rooted samsung?

Will a factory reset unroot a normal system root on samsung?

Welcome to AC!

If you Root and not change anything else I believe you can still get OTA software updates
If you alter anything then you won't , it will still say official until you install a custom ROM or change custom recovery. It's also possible if you accept the OTA while Root without modification you can lose root. Factory Reset won't change root you would have to flash stock firmware through odin to remove root or like I mentioned a OtA can break root.

So if I accept the OTA while rooted will I get a message "this will remove the root" or something similar? If root gets lost will some kind of new screen appear or something, will I immediately know that the phone is unrooted or will I have to check?

Not sure it it's the same on Samsung, but if you're talking about magisk, when you flash it it stores the original boot image and there is a setting in magisk where you can restore the original image so that you can update. Again not positive about Samsung but wanted to throw that out there.

So for example there are different root methods, does a factory reset effect some of these methods differently, is it possible for the phone to be unrooted with a factory reset for a specific rooting method?

No if a OtA breaks root u wont know unless you download Root checker in play store

If your unfamiliar with root and what to do I recommend you don't mess with it as you can very easily damage your device with wrong things as you now have full admin privilege to alter everything

Can I root Samsung S20 Ultra without a computer? On some places they say you can't root anymore without a computer on other places they say you can root without a computer. So what is the truth? Im not sure If I will do it but still want to know the truth.

Best place to check XDA Forum they are up to date on that stuff , US version are harder and I personally don't like the root way if it is possible without computer, stay away from KingRoot etc..

Stay away from those one click root apps. They are not trustworthy. If you don't have a computer then root is not worth risking on those types of apps. Why do you want to root anyways?
