Can anyone access Gmail on N4 outside of the Gmail app?

Because I cannot. New N4 running 4.3. The best I can do is have Email intermittently work for a few hours, then stop working for days.

I can't use the Gmail app because of Conversation View. I have briefly had the following alternatives working: K-9, stock Email, MailDroid, AquaMail. When I got it working on the stock Email app, I deleted all the other apps. Today, it's not working again.

I thought I had the problem fixed by using someone's tip to set up the new account through the phone's "Settings" instead of through the Email app interface. I have all settings correct--per Google. I have done a factory reset of the phone. All attempts have been done on my home WiFi, and I have verified (using telnet on my laptop) that the relevant ports are not blocked.

Could this be a hardware problem? I do not have any problems accessing other email accounts (my wife's paid Yahoo acct, an inbox.com acct I set up to see if it would work.)

I use K-9 and have three Gmail's setup.. working fine. Just added the Gmail accounts and it worked, never played with any settings.

I have multiple gmail accounts setup in the stock app N4 4.3. No issues. Did you set it up as IMAP or pop3? I set up IMAP.

Thanks for the replies. Yeah, I'm setting up IMAP. I first tried the simple approach, it failed, so I went the manual route, and it fails. I've tried 2 different Gmail accounts. I don't understand how this can be a hardware issue, yet I don't see how I'm the one person with the two "broken" Gmail accounts, either! Very frustrating.
