Note 4 Car audio question

I had this same situation with my S5 and G3. When the phone is connected to the car's bluetooth, I am unable to hear any notifications, or voice guidance on Google Maps (there are probably others but these 2 come to mind) unless the source on the car stereo is set to bluetooth. The only way I can find around this is to uncheck the media audio option in the bluetooth profile. Is this normal? Sort of defeats the purpose to me especially if you want to stream audio through the car's bluetooth interface...

The vehicles in question are a 2013 Camaro with MyLink and Nav, and a 2014 Impala, also with MyLink but no nav...

Re: Car audio question

Based on my experience with Bluetooth on my Galaxy S5, that does appear to be normal (though I agree it's not necessarily ideal). When it's connected to a Bluetooth device with the "Media Audio" profile, it routes pretty much all phone audio by default to the Bluetooth device.

While you can modify this in certain cases (use speakerphone for calls, for instance in the dialer), I don't know if there's a way to prevent notifications/navigation prompts from being routed to the Bluetooth device.
