Help with Rooting a galaxy note 8 with Kitkat

AT&T pushed an update and now my tablet is no longer very useful to me . Does anyone know how to root a note 8 with kitKat and AT&T? Can I use towlroot on this?

Tried Towelroot and it failed. Also tried Kingoroot it also failed. CF root has a plug for the I467M version but I wouldn't try that it, could brick your device. Just be patient here and careful since this is a brand new release.

I think that a lot of this is because AT&T encrypted their bootloader.

That's correct. We have to wait for a developer to make a work around like saferoot since the bootloader is locked. The att variant isn't very popular so we could be waiting a while to get root.

If the S5 is any indication, 'a while' will be 'never'. I wonder if getting the device unlocked is the same thing as unlocking the bootloader?

Sim unlock is not the same. That would allow you to use att phobe on tmobile.
GS5 is rooted thru towel root...supposedly.

Thanks for the info. However, the AT&T GS5 is no longer rootable via towel root or anything else. AT&T encrypted the boot loader, and the guys who root these things "don't want to waste their time with it because you shouldn't be buying an AT&T product anyway." (that's a paraphrase), and the guy who wrote Towelroot was hired away by google.

My Note 8 has been pretty much ruined by Kitkat, and between the S5 and my ruined tablet, I think I'm probably done with Android. IF I wanted a locked down, closed system, I'd have stayed with Apple.

Its been 3 now...any update on how to root kitkat?

Those who have issue of battery or heating with Kitkat update. Please do "wipe cache partition".it will remove your background junk. How you will do? >turnoff tablet
> press Menu button+Volume up+ power button.
>when see Note 8 logo, only release power button.
>then select wipe cache partition
