Android Central Question

This question has been asked before but I am asking again in case something has changed over the past six years.

In Google Music Google apparently thinks it recognizes the artist when I save a song. Sometimes it works, other times it is amusingly wrong.

I have linked to an example where the music of John Cage has been identified as a woman with a different name who plays the harp.

There are numerous other failed attempts - not the end of the world, it'd just be nice if I could override their selection.

I have tried to find anything anywhere in the desktop display of my information (I long ago gave up on trying to make changes on my phone) and have not been able to find anything that will allow me to change images of this sort.

Is it still impossible or is there now a way to do it?

Thanks -

george

Welcome to Android Central! Are you talking about Google Play Music, or the stock music player app for your particular phone? Which phone do you have?

If this is a saved music file, you can always edit it to embed your own album art, using an ID3 tag editor. I'm not sure if there are any good ones for Android, but on your PC, you can use Media Monkey.

I am talking about the app on my Samsung Galaxy 9+.

If you look at the image above "Cage, John" you will see that it is definitely not John Cage.

When I select his music I go to his page and see the information about him is actually about someone else.

It is my understanding that changes need to be made on a desktop computer but I am not finding anything anywhere that will allow me to do that.

That looks like Google Play Music to me, rather than the stock Samsung music app.

How did you get the music files -- are they ripped from a CD, or downloaded from some website, or did you get it some other way?

On a PC, you can install Media Monkey (which is free) and use that to embed album art manually, or just use Windows Media Explorer (assuming you're using a Windows PC). Last I recall, it's not entirely straightforward to get to Windows Media Explorer, but if you search for it using the Windows search function, it should show up.
