Question Why does this site show a red dot in my chrome shortcuts?

As you can see, in my chrome shortcuts, when I visit the android central forums website, the icon shows a red dot. If I dont have it open no red dot for new alerts. Why?

It probably means that you have a pending notification from that website (or did have one the last time the system refreshed that icon).

It 100% tells you that you have a notification waiting for you on the site. I get them sometimes after I've opened the site and navigated away. Seems like the browser's way of running in the background. Anyway, I get them on my PC, I use Tapatalk on the device, but it puts the dot on my shortcut icon for the site. Not sure if there is a way to stop it, I like it so I wouldn't want to. It's not harmful.

It only shows the red dot once I open the website and have new alerts. If I hadnt opened the site in a while no red dot. Sometimes shows a red dot in google mobile bookmarks as well.
