Can data be recovered after root/recovery

I finally talked my daughter into letting me root and add recovery to put a couple of customizations on for her.
In the process and when rebooting, everything, and I do mean everything on her internal sd card was lost - this means all her pictures.

She is ready to kill me. Also use app to back up and restore apps from archive, all date was gone. The card was wiped.

Is there anything I can do to recreate this info or retrieve pics? She can reload apps (she isn't happy) but the pictures, I need help!! I keep all my things backed up on computer (I flash a lot, so just in case), but I have never had all data lost. Any ideas?

That's an interesting idea, I have actually done with with camera cards where they have crashed. And have gotten some, not all off which is better than nothing.

But don't know if this would work with multiple files to look for vs simpe camera card. I don't know if everything is erased off with recovery. I don't know if daughter will let me plug her phone back iinto my computer since this was my fault!!!!

I did read over in xda that its unusual to erase the card, that is why it didn't even cross my mind. I have always backed mine up, never needed it, so the first time I don't is the time I need it!! The one comment I could find was something about Superuser, don't know if it means its stored somehow thry there, going to go read more.

Thanks for suggestion, might try as last resort if something can't be manipulated in a dfferent way.

I would be ready to kill u too. You broke number 1 rule. ALways backup. Actually its not unsual for the card to get erased. i had same thing happen when I unlocked bootloader. I copied everything before unlocking. I had good luck with using sandisk recovery software but since its on the phone not sure how useful it will be. try the demo version and see if it can see the files:

I know I broke it, I'm kicking myself and its the one time I didn't, and the one time I needed it!! Figures.

Her friends all have Iphones and she has been wanting one to be like them and actually better battery life which is the only reason I was rooting so I could change kernels to help her. I was hurrying and had to fight it to get it recognized (my computer had crashed so lost something and finally figured out the drivers again). So backup just slipped my mind.

I hate it for the pictures, when you are 23, some aren't important but all seem to be!

Thanks to both of you, I pushed the buttons. Might try this tomorrow if she lets me!!

Yes everything is wiped when you use the fastboot oem unlock command (Nexus, Xoom, etc.) - security feature. My suggestion would be to run a recovery program on the phone - you'll be able to get most of the m back.
