Can "Frequently Used Apps" be disabled from Edge screen?

I can reorder, add, and remove the apps on the right of the edge screen, but I don't see an option to remove the Frequently Used Apps on the left. Am I missing something or are the frequent apps here to stay?

Tap the gear icon on the lower left and choose what Edge panels you want active.
