can Galaxy Nexus play 720p MKV/MP4/AVI out of the box? (or free?)

my current phone is the Samsung Droid Charge. Out of the box, it
plays 99% of the 720p MKV/MP4/AVI videos that I have.

Just wondering if my incoming Nexus can do the same... or will I have
to buy a paid video player to do this?

Thanks! :)

Hard to say since I don't know the nature of the videos you have (what they were encoded with) but I have grabbed some 720p videos from youtube that are in .mp4 and they play just fine.

M4v files seem to play just fine as well. I have been using the "Act 1 Video Player" and have been pretty happy with it. It seems there are always a few that the stock player (no matter the device) won't play but Act 1 handles them. Act 1 doesn't seem to natively handle .avi.

I haven't played any .mkv since I rip everything into mp4 or m4v.
