Question Can "hey google" unlock your phone in an emergency?

I was in an emergency situation this week and needed to call for help, but I was paralyzed after a seizure. My phone was in my pocket and I kept saying hey Google call 911 or hey Google call ... and it kept saying my phone must first be unlocked. Is there a work around for this? I have 20+ seizures per day, and not all of them are emergent situations, but not being able to move was. Is there a setting I'm missing to be able to call for help in these situations?

You didn't mention which phone but both Samsung and Google allow this. On my P8P you got to assistant settings, lock screen and turn on there.

It should still be pretty close. A couple of the mods are more familiar with Samsung devices and can help. But as I say, just search for asistant settings and it should be in there.

I'm not going to try it because our PD gets the call even before the first ring on our end and calls back or dispatches.

Anyway, if you have allow commands on lock screen as @rvbfan said, it's the same on Samsung phones, I'm fairly certain "Ok Google, Dial 911" will work without intervention or requiring an unlock.

If it doesnt, you can try enabling Bixby if you haven't and use the same command, being Samsungs assistant, if Google won't, allow some system leniency. You will need to find the setting to allow the lock screen commands within Bixby as well. I also suggest you change the wake-up phrase to 'Hey Bixby' because it things everything you say is 'Bixby', the default wakeup and constantly activate otherwise.

Welcome to Android Central! You said "S22 pro" -- there actually is no official Samsung phone called that. Are you certain that's the name of the phone? I ask because there are a lot of fake knockoff phones pretending to be Samsung that are available online that always have much weaker specs than they claim to have. This would also mean their voice assistant capability is also severely limited.

Did you mean Galaxy S22 Plus or Galaxy S22 Ultra?

If you open the Google app then tap your profile>settings Google Assistant>lock screen toggle on for lock screen but it will be very limited in its function when biometric or pins/password are enable, Bixby can try also but might have same limitation as Google assistant on lock screen

Bixby works from the lock screen. I've used it plenty. (if you have it enabled, of course)
