Can I buy Google Play movies if rooted?

I have tried a few times to buy a movie on google play, with no luck. Any of my rooted devices are not able to purchase and play movies. I can buy them just not see them in the queue after paying. Is there a work around? I am not trying to get the paid apps for free, I just want to watch a rented movie from Google Play.
