Can I charge my galaxy s5 with a wireless cover/pad even if my usb port is damaged?

hey all! I damaged my usb port on my Samsung galaxy s5 phone. Before getting it serviced, can I just purchase a wireless charging cover and pad and charge it that way? Since nothing is being plugged into the actual port, it should work right?
