Can I customize "Silent Mode"?

I was curious if there was a way that I can still have my phone ring when I put it in Silent Mode. Sounds weird I know, but at night I always want to be able to hear my phone ringing in case of an emergency, but I don't want to hear every email that comes in at night. Is there a way to do this?

Tasker is an app that I've been using to customize several aspects of my phone with user-defined profiles. It also allows automation of tasks, like wifi turning on and off depending on which cell towers you are using. It's been awesome, and helps with my G2x battery life as well.

Just Google the app and you'll find it. Its a paid app but definitely worth it.

Also look at AudioGuru, it is all about customizing your sound profile automatically based on a schedule, and the pro version allows customization based on the day of week.
