Can I disable sleep with the desk clock?

Hey all,

New to the community. Just switched from the HTC Incredible to the Galaxy Nexus about a month ago. Loving it mostly...I do miss sense..but I'm adjusting. I'm a big fan of the desk clock feature, especially how it turns blue so as not to be annoying at night, but how do I keep the phone from going to sleep when in this mode?? I know how to disable sleep when charging, but is it possible to do the same when it's off the charger? Seems pointless to have this mode if you can't.

Quick observation...if you look at the "Clock" app from settings in the "Permissions" section, under "system tools" it reads: disable keylock, modify global system settings, PREVENT PHONE FROM SLEEPING.. so I'm thinking there must be a way.

Any ideas? Apologies if this has already been asked, tried a search with no luck.

What do you mean by "sleeping"? Do you imply that the phone will not ring when the clock is on and the phone's plugged into the charger?

What I mean is the screen turns off automatically. In the settings there is no way to even turn sleep off completely. You can set the phone to sleep at minimum after 15 sec, and up to 10min, but you can't turn it off all together. I like the sleep function as it helps with battery like, I simply want to disable it when I have the desk clock on.

You can do it if you get an app called SwitchPro Widget. I think it costs 99 cents in the market or you can download it for free from the developer's web site.

I would get this app just because it allows you to create a hotspot widget and use your phone as a mobile hotspot without paying the $30/mo to VZW.

With the app you can create a widget to keep it so that the screen never shuts off. Then you tap on the widget and then tap on the clock and set it to desk clock. Then tap and hold the desk clock and it dims it to the black background with blue numbers and never will turn off until you press the on/off button on the side of the phone or toggle the widget.
