Can I disable the prepackaged browser without hurting anything.

I have an LG Ultimate 2 Android phone that came prepacked with two browsers; Chrome and a generic browser that I can not identify. The permissions they require seems excessive. Both browsers have an active disable button but when I press them I get a warning that disabling the browsers can have a detrimental effect on my phone. Can I disable them and download the Javelin brower, for instance, which does not seem to have as many premissions required to work, without hurting the phone? Alternatively, can I just not use the prepackaged browsers and will this prevent them from using their permissions?

Both browsers can be disabled with no problems but it's no really so necessary. Before that just make sure you have another browser installed. You can leave them enabled and clear defaults for both of them. You'll have to select the new browser after trying to open a link from another app. Tap on "always" and it will be automatically selected from then on.
