Can I disable the swipe apps list in 8.0? I have the button, I don't want the swipe thing.

Just got the 8.0 update for my Galaxy S7 and use the home feature with the apps list available from a button. Since the update if I'm not very careful when trying to switch pages in the home screens it will pull up the apps list. Why does turning on the apps button not disable the swipe access? I don't want it and it's not a welcome change that I cannot figure out how to disable.
