Hope the mods don't get mad since I am off topic, but my fellow Rezounders are the smartest, so I need to ask you all.

One of my family members wants latitude but does not want a smartphone right now. Is it possible to use maps and latitude on a basic phone?

I suppose if the dumbphone had a data plan for web browsing, they could go to maps.google.com -- not sure how functional it would be nor if Latitude would be an option.

There are several types of basic phones and they are all different. I think we may need to know what model phone exactly before we could give an accurate answer.

Actually, you are probably better off to use VZ Navigator or Mapquest Mobile that is designed for the phone, they gave a monthly cost involved but are designed to work with the phone and can be downloaded from the (gulp!) Verizon App Store... I tried several different web-based navigation sites with my phones prior to getting a smart phone, and most of them couldn't share their location, so it was pretty useless for navigation, but either of the two above work pretty good.

I think I am just going to try to get her into a smartphone this December.

Hey Skater If she is looking to just get a entry I have a Droid X2 that i can sell her

Well, she is very stubborn and says she doesn't want a smartphone, but she would like to have Latitude. I am still trying to convince her to join the Android world. How much for the phone? You can PM me if you'd like!
