Can I enter a Bluetooth password as nothing?

So I have a controller that I want to use on my Moto ZPlay 2, but when I go to connect it through blue tooth it says I need a passcode. I looked it up and several people said that it will ask for a passcode and you're not supposed to put one in. However, Android will not accept nothing as a passcode. Help
