Can I format my SD card and add music/movies before my phone arrives?

Unfortunately, my 16gb card will be here before my Inc arrives. I see some people just swapping their cards from their Blackberry with pics and music still showing as normal. Can I use my BB to format my new card and start loading stuff on there or is it best to have the Incredible do the format? Just seeing if I can get a head start on loading it up! Thanks!

Sorry no. Got mine via corp rep. Never been in a store. You might give some of the bestbuys a look though.
