Neen Help choosing a new Charger

Hello:

I just purchased a new Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 tablet. I would like to buy a couple of new chargers for it ( one for the office, home and my carrying case for travel and a nother spare just in case). I tried serching for the charger on the Samsung website ( way over priced in my opinion) but was not able to order one from them. . I have also checked both Amazon and e-bay but even though they have the same model number the output voltage is different. The one that came with the tablet has a 5.3 volt/2.0 amp output but all of the ones I have been able able to find seem to have an output of 5.0 volts/2.0 Amps. so my question is. What output is actually needed and whare can I get an OEM Samsung charger.

Thank you for any help you can give me !!!!!

Re: Neen Help choosing a new Charger

Stutz,

I have three Samsung Galaxy S4's and a Tab Pro 12.2 and I cannot tell any difference between the chargers for the S4's and the one that came with the tablet. I have one of those wall outlet mounted multiplug thingys that gives you 6 outlets and two 2.1 amp usb outlets and I use it all the time to charge my Tab Pro. I have also used my Verizon branded car charger to charge my tablet. It is a 2.1 amp unit with a permanent micro usb plug on a cable and an usb outlet. I plugged the tablet into that and it seemed to charge fine. (I don't normally use my tablet in the car, but I wanted to see if how well the offline navigation app that I have worked on it.) Overall, I would say as long as it is a 2 amp charger it should be fine.

Thanks for the reply.
The charger that came with my Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 was a 5.3 volt 2.0 amp but the one that came with my Galaxy Note 2014 Edition is 5.0 volt 2.0 amp. That was why I was asking. Would you mind checking one more time? Thanks for your help.

Re: Neen Help choosing a new Charger

Stutz,

Yes the charger nominal output voltage is 5.3v for the Tablet and the one for the phone is 5.0v. Voltage can vary slightly as can amperage. Samsung's web site sites in one of the FAQs that you should be sure that the charger will output a minimum of 1 amp of charge amperage. All of the USB based charging systems are modeled after the USB port on PC's which have a nominal voltage of 5.0v, so they are all roughly the same from a voltage standpoint. Overall, as long as the charger supplies a minimum of 1.0amp it should charge your device. With the size of the battery in the Tab Pro 12.2 a 1.0amp charger will take a very long time to charge your device. IMHO, it takes a long time to charge the device with a 2.0amp charger. Voltages on this type of device tends to vary slightly based on actual line voltage and frequency. All that being said, a charger that is designed for a USB charging cable that has a minimum of 1.0amp output will charge your tablet. Toshiba also said that the Tab Pro series has a trouble monitor in the charging system and if your power is too sour for the device it will show the charging symbol with a red circle and a strike through it. So when you try a charger look at the tablet and make sure it is charging. If it is, you should be good.

Hope this helps,
