Can I get some help with a malfunctioning LG G2 usb?

lg g2 usb malfuntioning HELP

so 3 days ago i was able to plug in my phone via the charger usb to sync music and such. however when i plugged it in today all it did was charge the phone, the computer just says unkown usb device and that my usb was not recognized and might be malfunctioning. I have tried tirelessly to solve the issue for 5 straight hours now but to no avail. i just dont understand what couldve happened to cause this during 3 days?!?
Extra info:
my phone is updated to the latest software for the lg g2.
it does not work on other computers either.
i did try and get a new cable but got the same result.
i have windows 7 on my laptop.

Try using different ports to see if another one works. Sometimes it helps if you turn on USB Debugging mode in the developer settings as well. Also, make sure you have the most up to date drivers. Also, sometimes your phone has mount settings. I think it's under the general section in your settings for the G2.
