Problem with Email app post Lollipop update

When I bought my phone, I got rid of the Email app (hated it!) by disabling it so I can use the far better (IMHO) myMail app. The disabled Email apps lists in the 'Disabled' apps section. My friend then purchased a MotoG phone and I recommended that he used myMail. This he did, but then started receiving two email messages every time - one in myMail and (the same) one in Email. He then got another friend 'to do something' and the Email app disappeared, so he was back to receiving only one email via the myMail app. He is not good on technical matters, so he doesn't know what this other friend did.
So now he upgrades to Lollipop and the Email app has reappeared and he is again receiving two copies of each email. I attempted to disable the app, but the interface is completely different to the previous operating system. Instead of details of the app with a Disable button, it now shows a Service which 'was started by the system' and something else. If the 'STOP' option is used, a message appears saying that other bits of the phone may no longer work and, in any case, it will only be stopped until the next time the phone is switched on.
Simple question - solution difficult to find for me - how can he get rid of the Email app?
Thanks

PS : The Email app on my phone is still listed as disabled in the apps disabled section (Settings | Apps | Disabled), so I don't have the same problem post Lollipop upgrade.

Go to Settings>Apps>All, select Email, and tap Disable there. You might have to Uninstall Updates first. I think the screen you were looking at is the Settings>Apps>Running menu.
