Can I get some help with an LG Escape 2 storage problem?

LG Escape 2 Storage Problem.

Hello,
I recently got an LG Escape 2 phone for AT&T. I like the phone very much. The one issue I'm having is that according to settings, the phone has 8 GB of storage.

Currently though (and I've put almost nothing on it) the storage menu of settings says that under the Miscellaneous section, currently 5.18GB of data are being used by a greyed-out section called "System Data". Is this normal? Does that mean the phone really only has around 3GB of actual free storage for me?

That sounds about right. It's like with computers, they advertise the total storage on the device, but they don't tell you that part of said storage is being used for the OS and bloatware they preinstall on it.
