Help with downloaded files

When I am on a website and tap a link, frequently the link doesn't open but a file is downloaded. Is there any way to get the downloaded file to open automatically like it does on a computer? I have to pull the notification panel down to find the file and then tap to open it. Since I usually forget to do this and keep tapping the link hoping it will open, I end up with multiple copies of the file when the light goes on in my head and I remember to check the notifications. There must be a better way!!!

Unfortunately, nope. If you're clicking on links that point to non-HTML or image files, these need to be downloaded first to your device,where you can then open them with the appropriate app.
