Ringtone issue

Dear members of Androidcentral,

I am having problems with my ringtone(s). Whether it be custom or stock ringtones, they do not work. Having thought that it might be speaker issues, I tried to play the music and ringtones individually but it worked fine. My sound settings are on max. I'm not sure if Cleaner Master might having removed or affected some part of the system. Just wondering if anyone here has faced this problem before..?

Thanks for your time in reading this.

Re: Ringtone issue

Did you try restarting the device? If that doesn't work you might want to try a factory reset.

Re: Ringtone issue

Yes, I've tried to restart the device. But unfortunately it does not resolve the issue. Kinda saving factory reset as a last resort. Was hoping to try to get it fixed without that at the moment. Thanks for your reply though. If you have any other ideas that you would suggest, I'd try them out first. ;)

Re: Ringtone issue

Check and see if you don't have (DND) enabled if your M8 is running Android 5.0.1.

If your M8 is running Android 5.0.2 check the (Interruptions) settings.

If (DND) or (Interruptions) is activated, they could mute your M8 even if you have the phone profile set to General.

Mine's on 4.4.3 and DND is not enabled. Adjusting the ringtone slider does not produce any sounds :(

Re: Ringtone issue

Uninstall Cleaner Master. It's horrible and unnecessary.

Go to: Settings > Storage > Cached data > Clear cached data? > Ok

Do this only once. For best performance it's usually best to just leave cache files alone to do their job.

Reboot the phone. If still no ringtones post back here. If you see any error messages be sure to include them.

Android since v1.0. Linux user since 2001.

I've just removed cleaner master. Not sure where is cached data though. I'm unable to find it :(

Re: Ringtone issue

Go to: Settings > Storage > Cached data > Clear cached data? > Tap Ok

Do this only once, just to clear out any corrupt or erroneous cache files and let the system kinda start over fresh. For best performance it's usually best to just leave cache files alone to do their job.

Re: Ringtone issue

Thanks Crashdamage. I managed to clear cache using an app that I found in play store. Unfortunately, I couldnt find the clear cache option in the location that you specified. I've read somewhere that it's located in the bootloader. But since I havent root my harman kardon yet, I couldnt access the recovery. So I went and got the app and now it works after clearing the cache. Thanks for the heads up =)
