I would like to download apps from the playstore and install them in my SD card rather than the device's internal storage. I don't want to turn the SD card into the internal storage however.
Is there a way to make the playstore download apps into the SD card and install them in the card? Can I pick the download destination or do I have to download the APK file from somewhere other than the playstore?
I have a samsung galaxy A01.

It's not recommended to use app data to SD card , they known to have slow write speeds, crash, performance issues. Keep it for music, pictures, videos but keep those back up as well.

Short answer no.

Long answer is Google has always frowned on installing apps on the sd card and Samsung was blocking it well over 5 years ago. The reasoning was sd cards aren't reliable for continuous read/write, even the fastest sd card is horribly slow, and they didn't want users blaming their phone for poor performance and stability caused by the sd card.

If an app allows it to be loaded on the card, I don’t see why not…especially if you are limited on space on the phone.

For the last couple of years, the developers have decided whether or not it was allowed per application. You first must install directly and then move the app if allowed.

I never had an issue with an app on the card.

If you ever have to remove the card, the app would of course no longer be available, and that could get messy.

Additionally - apps that support moving to SD only move a portion of the app to the card, resulting in saving less space than you think you will by moving the app.

You're talking about the "Move to SD" feature for cards formatted as Portable Storage, and not Adoptable Storage (i.e., cards formatted as Internal Storage), right? "Move to SD" isn't just dependent on the app developers -- it's also highly dependent on the phone manufacturer. Samsung does allow moving app data to the SD card (for apps that are coded to take advantage of it), but Lenovo doesn't.

And as hallux mentioned, it's only a portion of the app that's being moved, which is app data. The actually functional part of the app has to remain on Internal Storage.

Install the apps to the internal storage where they want to be.

For the apps that use lots of storage (games, GPS, camera, maps, etc), check the settings in the individual apps. Many of them let you move the data to the SD card while leaving the app on the internal storage.
