Can I make one tablet from two?

My brother-in-law had some bad luck. He has a Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 version, that he uses for work, that ended up with a broken screen. It still works bu,t the glass is badly cracked. He got this one to replace another 2014 Note 10.1, that ended up with a bad motherboard, but otherwise in good shape. Both of these tablets are out of warranty, and I suggested combining the good parts to make one working tablet. Is this doable, or should he just sell the two for scrap and try for tablet 3 with the most heavy duty case he can find.

I imagine it would be doable by someone with the relevant experience, skill, knowledge, and tools....or by someone with luck on their side all the way through the procedure.

Thanks for the answers. I watched a few videos about changing the battery, and the screen, so it seems possible. I was able to save his info from both tablets, so he wouldn't lose anything. I am going to try and take out the inner parts as one unit, then I don't have to disassemble a lot of parts. I figured I would take a shot before he buys a new one. Tried to recommend a refurbished Note 10.1, but he only buys new,
