Can I put my SD card from s8 into my s9?

I'm upgrading my phone to an s9, and I'm wondering whether the apps on the sd card will transfer over to it.

Both phones run the same version of Android, but I'm still worried that my apps just won't load.

Data stored on SD card will be visible in S9. Apps will need to be reinstalled and redirected to SD card.
