Can I recover pictures from my totaled S3?

I tried fixing the cracked screen on my S3 on my own since people I've known have had luck doing it, but I managed to completely total it and break the digitizer as well. It turns on but the screen does not light up, the only way I can tell it's on is by the LED light. I tried salvaging the pictures from my S3 but I've had no luck, when I connect it to the computer it shows the device but it does not show any of the files on it. Is there any way I can recover the photos I've taken?
