can i "restore factory setitngs" if i root?

i rooted using the method shown, but i have not down the recovery thing, just root...

so if i do a factory reset through settings, will it be bricked?

Eh, I think hes saying he hasn't put CWM recovery on his phone... he just has the stock recovery. And I factory reset with root and stock recovery a few times.

IF you have CWM recovery on your phone... no you'll brick it.
IF you have not installed ClockWorkMod recovery on your phone, you just have the stock recovery... yes you can factory reset without brick.

It's not root that causes the brick... If I'm understanding right, its the modified recovery.img that causes the brick with these phones.

ALSO, you can always boot into recovery (Power Off the phone, hold down the home button, the volume down button, and then power (all at the same time)...until the phone boots into recovery. From there just Wipe Data Factory Reset.
