Can I send a Google Voice SMS using Google Now (voice commands)?

I have Hangouts set as my default SMS app and Google Voice set as my default SMS number. This works brilliantly except when I want to send texts using voice commands (Google Now). I even turned off texting through my cell provider, and it still only tried to send through that number.

Is there some Google Now or ge eral phone setting I should be changing, or is there no solution to this problem?
