I rooted my phone back in January but have not installed any apps on the phone other than a tethering app. Can I install 2.2 on my phone using the system update without messing anything up or bricking my phone?

If you are referring to the verizon OTA 2.2 update, no, you will not be able to receive it while the phone is rooted. The vzw OTA will not download with the superuser app on your phone. You will need to flash stock DL09 in ODIN to get rid of the root, then your phone will be able to receive the 2.2 update. Rooting after that has been simplified by just flashing the su + busybox zip in CWM-recovery-all-3-30-fix.
I got the OTA update and I was rooted. I had no problems, just the normal camera issue and I had to deleate the advance google search I had installed. So delete the google search before you update, If you have camera issues you will probly have to do a factory reset. A lot of people had that issue, rooted or not.
why, just flash com rom 1.3. i had to flash back to stock, bricked my phone again, and decied i would see about that nice ED03 modem. WOW, THAT WAS STUPID!!!!. im flashing back to EC01 modem.
