Can I use JB Weld on a cracked touch screen?

My son dropped his Nexus and of course it cracked the glass. The crack is on the side not affecting the view of the face at all and it has a couple of chipped pieces. I was just going to try filling the area with something like silicone, JB Weld, or auto windshield repair.

I'm wondering if anyone might know what I can use that will not interfere with the touch screen. I'm thinking that silicone might be too much like "skin" touching that it might not work. Would like others' opinions.

How big are the chips, and do they need to be filled in order to restore function of the touch screen? I would probably just put a screen protector over it. Maybe you could cut some pieces to fit out of some scrap clear plastic and then put the protector over that? I'd be worried about anything adhesive coming into contact with the digitizer or getting between it and the glass.

I'm at work right now and trying to remember about the size. The broke area is maybe about the size of a quarter if about 1/4 to 1/2 of the quarter was hanging off the side. It has a couple of glass chips that are still there, but loose.

I will have to take a picture of it when I get home and add to this post to show the damage.

The screen protector might be the way I go, I was just trying to find a more "permanent" solution. I know when the screen protector has to be changed, I will have to deal with the break again.

The screen works well and no obscurities from the break right now.

I did go on Ebay and got the lcd with digitizer for $65.

Since I did purchase this on Ebay, I went ahead and decided to try an epoxy using Loctite's Glass glue figuring if it did kill it, no big deal.

Just to complete this thread and so everyone knows, it didn't work. The touchscreen is dead. RIP.

Well, at least your manliness has shown through.

Some photos of the Loctite on screen would really complete this thread :). But really, unfortunate the solution didn't work. Let us know how the screen replacement goes.
