Thanks for your encouraging comments and expressing your concerns. Even though many people don't read the privacy policy and terms of use, we have actually gone through the tedious process of reviewing what other similar (big) sites have included there, and created our own versions - admittedly with some copy and paste of paragraphs. Where exactly have you seen the <insert business name here> tag?
I don't want to sound as I am defending our disclosure policy, quite the contrary. I want to learn what people expect to see about our startup, and thanks again for bringing this to my attention. It seems we failed to extract the most important piece from other sites' "about us" and similar pages, namely who we actually are.
It is no secret that DailyRoads.com is registered to a company from Romania, a simple whois lookup reveals this. But, the team is international, and haven't yet decided where to actually establish our "official" headquarters. Wanted to first see what traction our Android app gets, and lately have focused our efforts on improving this app, leaving the main site as "a test environment" - as it is clearly stated on the header of every page.
The upload feature is disabled by default in the Android app, and users have to confirm two options to allow their geotagged files to be visible for the general public. This is because we value the privacy of our users.
But, as you point out, some users may want to know more about us than what is currently available on the main site. We'll work on this aspect, too, after the more pressing Android issues are sorted out...
Thanks and regards,
Robert Fejer
