Can I use S-View cover without NFC enabled?

Since I have the S-View cover (that requires the NFC of the phone enabled for the front display features), I was wondering if I can use the cover without NFC of the phone being enabled (in order to preserve battery)? If I keep it disabled, won't the phone's NFC transmitter mess with the case's NFC receiver or damage it in any way? What do you think? Thank you.

The s view case does not have a NFC "receiver".

Ive used the s view case with NFC enabled and not. Works the same either way.
