Looking to order an unlocked N910A off ebay. I'm moving in a couple of months, but where I live now I have no service at all so I'm wondering if I can use the phone's wifi features in the mean time or do I need to activate it with a carrier before I can use any features at all??

LOL... I was going to ask the same thing (for a different reason).

Was thinking of using my Note 2 as a bedside tablet once I get my next phone.... but wasn't sure if there was something "built in" that prevents me from using it like that.

The Note 4 looks to be my next phone, but I am delaying my upgrade until I see what March brings to the table.

This...
I let my grandkids use my old phones for games, etc. all the time. I use my old S4 as my music source in the gym; I just download my playlists from Google Play. I can use the old phones for everything while on wifi.

Yep, I use my note 4 on WiFi, while I use my note edge mostly (if anyone is looking for an AT&T variant of the N4, let me know)

Yes but if you're not going to activate it better off unlocked for more freedom.

If you are in US you can also get Grooveip and use it as a wifi phone.

You are better off using Google hangouts to make calls. Works better than grooveip for me

If you plan on never using the phone you buy it locked or unlocked or even with a bad ESN (black listed phone basically) since you don't need to use cellular network

I think I might be moving in a few months to where I'd get service but honestly that's a great idea if I was just using it a tab!
