Can my phone get a virus?

I was on the internet the other day, when I seen an ad pop up about some "trojan virus" found on my phone. I usually ignore these ads, it just wants me to download some app. But this time the ad was more specific. I decided to get an app, and it found a malware virus on my phone. The app that was causing the problem had no icon, and no name or info about it. Could this have been an actual virus? And if so, I've been having some problems on my phone lately with my sim card not being detected. Could the virus have caused that? Should I be worried?

The "Trojan virus" popup IS the virus. If you can't get rid of it, ignore it - it won't harm the phone, it may harm your patience.
