Drag from where to where?

Do you mean that you have connected your Pixel to a PC via USB cable and are trying to drag and drop between windows?

What exactly are you trying to do; what (if any) error messages are you receiving, what is the OS of your (presuming...) PC?

i am on a MacBook pro... i have the folder on my external drive... i would like to get the music on my phone

Android File Transfer may be an option, or if the music is in iTunes, iSyncr is something to consider.

Why not upload them to Play Music and keep your phone free of clutter. Also, you'll have all your music on all your devices
